India Pakistan War : The Ministry of Civil Aviation has released an important press note announcing the temporary suspension of all civil flight operations at 32 airports across northern and western India. This suspension will be in effect from May 9 to May 14, 2025, with restrictions lasting until 05:29 IST on May 15, 2025.
The decision was officially communicated through a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) issued by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and other relevant aviation bodies, citing operational reasons.
Which Airports Are Affected?
A total of 32 airports have been identified in the notice for temporary closure:
Airport Name | Airport Name |

Amritsar | Awantipur |
Bathinda | Bhuj |
Bikaner | Chandigarh |
Halwara | Hindon |
Jaisalmer | Jammu |
Jamnagar | Jodhpur |
Kandla | Kangra (Gaggal) |
Keshod | Kishangarh |

During this period, no civil flight operations will be permitted at these airports.
In parallel, the AAI has also temporarily suspended 25 Air Traffic Service (ATS) route segments in the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions (FIRs). These restrictions apply from ground level to unlimited altitude and will remain effective until 23:59 UTC on May 14, 2025 (equivalent to 05:29 IST on May 15).
As per NOTAM G0555/25, which replaces G0525/25, the route closures are part of routine operational planning and airspace management.
Airlines and flight operators have been advised to re-plan routes and ensure compliance with updated advisories. Passengers are urged to check with airlines for any cancellations or schedule changes prior to their travel dates.
The temporary measures are being coordinated closely with ATC units to maintain safety and reduce travel disruption.
The closure affects some strategic and high-traffic airports across the region. While the official reason is operational, such coordinated airspace restrictions are typically linked to security exercises or national-level airspace management operations.
